How many Black men must die before justice prevails?

I have been waiting to see how this shooting was going to unfold since Saturday and it raises an important question.  How many Black men must die before justice is prevailed and laws are passed to sanction cops?  Most recently, a South Carolina Police officer by the name of  Michael Slager fatally shot Walter Scott.  The video has gone viral on social media and it clearly shows the police officer shooting an unarmed black  man who was running away from him.  According to NBC news, Scott was stopped due to a brake light that was out.  Does this sound like a reason to shoot an unarmed black man 8 times?

It was not until Tuesday, that the police officer was charged with murder after the video surfaced.  Slager's police report was a contradiction to what is seen in the video filmed by a witness on his cell phone and what the officer reported.  Mayor Summey , said "when you're wrong, you're wrong." " When you make a bad decision, don't care if your are behind the shield or a citizen on the street, you have to live with that decision." 

The shootings are not targeted to one particular region, but it's happening all over the country. However, the fear is that one race group is being targeted.   It's time to wake up before a  war against those who were sworn to serve and protect breaks out.  We all know that not all cops are bad.  I have friends and family members that have taken that same oath to serve and protect.

Meanwhile, as the country watches on with the South Carolina case the question remains, how many Black men must die before justice prevails?

The Injustice System in America toward Black & Brown men

The current judicial system in America is supposed to be justice for all. However, over the years we have seen injustice to the brown and black men.  Recently, I watched the horrific Netflix series about the young boys from Cental Park. Last night, I watched Oprah Winfrey interview the cast and the exonerated five men who lost years off their childhood for a crime they didn’t commit. Their story was very hard to watch I must admit because I have brothers, nephews, and male cousins. What these young men experienced as a child by a system that was supposed to protect them violated them and their rights in so many ways unimaginable. I agree with Ava Duvernay that it’s not about holding the persons responsible like the prosecution and police officers accountable , its a judicial system that failed these five kids at the time.
