Tell us about your business Heavenly Creations Hair Salon?

Heavenly Creations Hair Salon was birthed about 10 years ago,  while I was praying for guidance on what I should be doing now in my life and the name just popped up Heavenly Creations.   I had no idea where I was going to be going or when I was going to have a salon. But I just knew that when I got the salon it was going to be named Heavenly Creations.  I was able to make my dream come true on March 20, 2014.   My husband Andre, he’s been behind me as my number one supporter.  It was just time for me to step out. We have three stylist and we are all focused on healthy hair. We will give you more than what you expect.

We are located in Downers Grove, IL at 5133 Belmont Road. We are opened Tuesday through Friday 9am-6pm and Saturday 6am-4pm. We will also come in on Sunday’s or Monday’s if we have to if you have a special thing.   If you’re going out of town just give us a call and we will make that happen. We focus on giving you #1 customer service. You will have an experience at Heavenly Creations. There is no wait and you will be in and out with good quality service.

What inspired you to step out on faith to launch your business?

It has always been in the back of my head. It was time for me to do my own thing. There were some things going on at previous salon which made it clear for me that it was time. I prayed on it for a month or so and God was like it’s time for you to go this location.  It was a good thing the differences that I had from previous salon owner because if I had not, I might be still renting a booth from someone.

What makes your salon services different from your competitors?

Well, what makes Heavenly Creations different is you want to have an experience when you go to salon. We focus on making you feel like you’re at home with your girls relaxing with your favorite drinks (lemonade, sweet tea, or water).  I try to make it comfortable for the client. It’s not that gossiping or we are talking behind the clients back. We are a like a family and my clients are good with the other stylists clients. We keep it like a family scene.

What are three goals you like to accomplish with your business in 2015?

Hmm, three goals let me see.   I would like to have a full staff working.  I just have one more booth available. One of them is working with women, cancer patients, and young girls. You know, given my services back because that’s another dream I have to somehow give my service back to those who can’t afford to be beautiful to going on job interviews.  I want to make custom wigs for the cancer patients, and inspire young girls that if they don’t want to go to school they can start their own business as a beautician. I want to expand my location, have a nail technician, and day care for the little kids.  These are my goals for 2015.

How can customers learn more about Heavenly Creations?

Well, customers can pick up the phone and call me anytime they want or send me a text. I try to keep in one on one. Or they can go on my Facebook page at Heavenly Creations like and follow me. The number one thing, just give me a call.   I am real down to earth and  I can probably tell you something that you might not see on my Facebook page.

What advice would you give to women that desire to start their own business?
I say research, research, research. Pray before making any move, talk to other salon owners, and have your short-term goals written down. Take your past experience and either make it fit or switch them to and make them better. Pick a great location. If you’re getting a loan, (I didn’t get a loan) the money you are requesting have that in the bank until your business starts making money.
